🎸 TK from Ling tosite sigure, the voice behind "unravel" from Tokyo Ghoul, closed his first North American tour on June 7, 2026 in Mexico City. Seven shows across six cities, roughly 8,000 people, in the year marking fifteen years of his solo work.

Who Is TK from Ling tosite sigure?

TK from Ling tosite sigure is the solo project of TK (Toru Kitajima), guitarist and vocalist of the three-piece rock band Ling tosite sigure. Formed in 2002, the band built its standing in Japanese alternative rock on technically demanding guitar work, male-female twin vocals, and arrangements that snap from near-silence to full volume in a single bar.

TK began releasing solo work in 2011. Where the band leans post-hardcore, the solo material brings in piano and strings, building a more delicate and dreamlike sound. Across flowering, Fantastic Magic, white noise, Sainou and Whose Blue, he reached his fifteenth solo year in 2026.

The Anime Connection: Why the World Knows TK

What carried TK's name outside Japan was "unravel," the 2014 opening theme for the anime Tokyo Ghoul. A vocal that moves from fragile falsetto to a scream mirrors the protagonist Ken Kaneki's unraveling, and the song locked into the series.

The numbers show how far it traveled. Spotify plays passed 100 million in November 2020, 200 million in March 2022 and 300 million in March 2024, and were approaching 400 million by February 2026. At the 300-million mark the United States was the top country for plays, with Japan second, followed by Mexico, India, Indonesia, Germany and the UK. The shape of this tour, and the Mexico City sell-out, traces that map almost exactly.

With Ling tosite sigure, TK has a long association with the Psycho-Pass franchise, from the first season's opening "abnormalize" (2012) through "Enigmatic Feeling," the film theme "Who What Who What," and "Alexithymia Spare" for 2023's Providence.

More recently he wrote "first death," the episode 8 ending theme for Chainsaw Man, and "Red:birthmark" for Aina the End, the second-cour ending of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. In April 2026 his first collaboration with MYTH & ROID became the ending theme for the fourth season of Re:Zero.

The First North American Tour, Completed

From May 26 to June 7, 2026, TK played TK from Ling tosite sigure TOUR 2026 ISO×0 NORTH AMERICA, six cities across the United States, Canada and Mexico, answering years of requests from fans in the region.

The venue choices said something. San Francisco's Fillmore is the room where Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead played; New York's Irving Plaza holds about 1,000 people and keeps the audience close. All of them sit in the 1,000 to 2,000 range, which suits music that swings between whisper and detonation.

At Irving Plaza on June 2 he played "P.S. RED I," written for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and recorded in New York, the city the film is set in. Crowds broke into unprompted singalongs at multiple stops. Total attendance across the six cities came to roughly 8,000.

A Milestone Year: Asia and Budokan

The world tour did not stop in North America. Asian dates followed on July 4 at Zepp New Taipei in Taipei and July 12 at Seoul's YES24 WANDERLOCH HALL, which sold out.

At home, a seven-date national tour, TK from Ling tosite sigure TOUR 2026 Seiheki, opens on November 7 at Otaru GOLDSTONE. Its finale is his first solo show at Nippon Budokan on December 27. Playing Budokan remains a career marker for Japanese musicians in a way few other rooms are.

Countless listeners abroad found TK through "unravel." In Japan he is known not only as an anime theme writer but as someone who has spent two decades at the front of alternative rock. This tour put both of those in front of a North American audience at once, from the same person.
